The deaths in the well-known extended family have left many in Gaza wondering if "anybody is safe ... people really are very worried about their own safety" as a result.

 The death toll since Wednesday to 66.

World Health Organization warned on Saturday that Gaza’s hospitals “are overwhelmed with casualties from Israel’s bombings and face critical shortages of drugs and medical supplies,” according to the Reuters news agency (“Gaza hospitals stretched, need supplies to treat wounded: WHO”).
Reuters adds: “the WHO, quoting Health Ministry officials in Gaza, said 382 people have been injured - 245 adults and 137 children.” Gaza’s health facilities were already “severely over stretched mainly as a result of the siege of Gaza,” the UN organization said.
Meanwhile, Palestinian resistance groups fired more long-rage rockets towards Tel Aviv, and sirens were heard in Jerusalem for the first time. Gaza groups also fired short-range rockets, many of them intercepted by the Iron Dome system, according to Israeli media. Rockets were also reported to have been fired from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. Three Israeli civilians were killed by a rocket fired from Gaza on Thursday.
Protests against Israel’s assault on Gaza erupted across the West Bank, where protesters clashed with Israeli soldiers. According to the Ma’an News Agency, five Palestinian citizens of Israel were detained at a protest in Jerusalem’s Beit Hanina neighborhood and ten persons were detained by Israel at protests in Gaza across the West Bank yesterday. Israeli forces also arrested protesters outside Jerusalem’s Old City on Friday.

Solidarity demonstrations continue to be held in dozens of cities worldwide (a continuously updated list can be found here).

November 17, 2012 "Electronic Intifada"  - November 16, 2012 - These were some of the calls from a group of Israelis demonstrating in favor of Israel’s attack on Gaza in the streets of Tel Aviv last night.

Peaceful protests by Palestinian students at Israeli universities were met with similar incitement.

In Tel Aviv, across the road, another group of Israelis protested against the assault. “We came here to say that we must end this war immediately,” Knesset member Dov Khenin of the communist Hadash party told the anti-war crowd, “every additional drop of blood is needless.”

The duelling demonstrations were filmed by David Sheen. While anti-war voices exist, there’s little doubt that much of the Israeli Jewish population stands behind Israel’s attack on Gaza, believing the government propaganda that Palestinians are firing rockets at Israel unprovoked while Israel seeks peace and quiet.

Among the pro-violence demonstrators was Baruch Marzel a notorious settler fanatic who frequently incites violence. “The enemy must be expelled and destroyed,” Marzel said, specifiying that Palestinians should be kicked out of Gaza so Israelis could re-settle there.

“You’re cross-dressers! You’re the Gay Pride March, that’s what you are,” shouted another war supporter at the peace demo, a call that was echoed by others.

One man warned fellow protestors, “They’re filming us, don’t curse” but that did not stop the violent calls. “Go to Gaza with the Muslims, you sons of bitches,” said one. “The people demand more shooting,” responding to calls for a ceasefire from the pro-violence demonstration across the road.

The calls for blood and violence in the streets echo incitement by Israeli government leaders. In recent days Israel’s “minister of home front defense” Avi Dichter called for Israel to “reformat” Gaza – wipe it clean – like a computer hard drive, except using bombs.

Israeli transport minister Israel Katz called for Israel to bomb Gaza so hard that the population would flee into Egypt, and for Israel to cut off water and electricity supplies.

“Death to the Arabs”: Incitement at Israeli universities

Hundreds of Palestinian citizens of Israel, students at several universities, turned out to protest the Israeli attack on Gaza, despite a heavy police presence on and around campus, reported Arabs 48, a website providing news on Palestinians in Israel.

At Tel Aviv University, some 150 Palestinian students gathered despite a heavy security presence, Arabs 48 reported, and there right-wing students from the Zionist group Im Tirzu confronted them shouting racist slogans including “Death to the Arabs.”

Similar scenes took place at Hebrew University, where right-wing students were held back by security forces from attacking Palestinians calling for an end to the violence.

At Haifa University, Palestinian students held a moment of silence for victims of the Israeli attacks in Gaza, and were quickly confronted by Israeli Jewish students, according to Arabs 48.

“What happened today at the Haifa University was the most terrible thing I’ve seen in my life,” tweeted Israeli Twitter user @kesterica who witnessed what happened at Haifa, “Arab students were silently protesting against the war. They invited the Jews to join them.”

“In response,” @kesterica tweeted, “dozens of Jewish students attacked the Arabs, called them traitors, spread rumors that they were mourning [Jabari], sang [the anthem religious songs encouraging war].”

On Wednesday morning, Israel carried out the extrajudicial execution of Ahmad al-Jabari, the top Hamas military leader in Gaza, breaking a truce, and reigniting violence that left 19 Palestinians, including at least 6 children and a pregnant woman, and three Israelis dead since Wednesday, by Friday morning.

“The Jews sang: ‘he’s dead, he’s dead, he’s dead.’ I don’t tend to cry fascism, fascism, but that’s what it was,” @kestericatweeted.

“An Arab girl who stood there told me that she was asked why she was standing there, and she said she was against war and against casualties [deaths] and invited people to join her. It didn’t happen,” added @kesterica.

“I cannot say what each of the protesters thought, but she and quite a few of the folks standing there said they were just against war. To tell you the truth, me too,” she tweeted.

Palestinian students sang the Palestinian anthem “Mawtini” in response to the taunts, as the video above shows.

Violent and racist sentiments have also been widespread among Israelis on Facebook and other social media.

During Israel’s 2008-2009 attack on Gaza, journalist Patrick Cockburn observed:

Israeli society was always introverted but these days it reminds me more than ever of the Unionists in Northern Ireland in the late 1960s or the Lebanese Christians in the 1970s. Like Israel, both were communities with a highly developed siege mentality which led them always to see themselves as victims even when they were killing other people. There were no regrets or even knowledge of what they inflicted on others and therefore any retaliation by the other side appeared as unprovoked aggression inspired by unreasoning hate.

Much the same appears to be true today.

AllVoicesAllIrish International Lobby Group Formed

A new Irish international lobby group has been formed called AllVoicesAllIrish International; A group for all of the 70 million, of the Irish diaspora, scattered around the planet. Anyone remotely connected with Ireland is very welcome according to its spokesperson Brian Clarke.

He said, "We are not allied with any sect denomination or creed. Our purpose is to unify the Irish international voice, to express itself without censorship or hindrance and to organize ourselves in the social media with contactable, facebook, twitter or Google buzz accounts where in the future we can contact each other and by mutual general agreement, we can express the international Irish voice with clarity and a reasonable degree of unity.

The group is primarily for Irish people around the world, who have been particularly badly treated, without a voice to speak for them. Rachel Corrie a young American Irish cailin, was murdered in Palestine by Israel, while Irish peace activists have been brutalized, trying to bring humanitarian aid through the Gaza blockade.

While Israel are extremely well organized in the States to lobby for their people, the Irish are not. We need a voice for the millions of Irish people worldwide. The group has a page on Facebook which is meant to be a platform for an Irish cause adopted by the majority to lobby. no matter what it is without censorship, other than racism, commercialism, religion, sexism or violent bullying, feel free to use it. People throughout the world with an affinity to Ireland or interested in matters related to Ireland are very welcome.The group intends to to get effectively organized, because of considerable censorship by certain matters affecting Irish and Irish Americans in the Israeli and British media, when Irish issues are raised in a reasonable way.

Connecting facebook, twiitter and Google buzz accounts in an organized way, is part of the initials steps forward to lobby internationally including in the US for an Irish voice. For example when the MV Rachel Corrie was arrested by Israel recently, Irish people who wanted to lobby the American Government, could not find any Irish body organized anything like Aipac fro example

Neither could they contact the millions of Irish people worldwide, because of a wall of Israeli and British censorship, who do not want certain issues to be discussed, particularly in the United States. If we are to resolve these issues peacefully, it is essential that censorship is not allowed and that we can freely and peacefully organize, to make our voice heard. We would also like to extend a warm welcome to our dissenter and dissident Irish brethern, we hope to learn from some of their contributions.

BRITISH ANTI-SEMITIC DOGS - ISRAEL

Leading officials, politicians and newspaper editors in Israel, have
reacted angrily to the British government's announcement to expel the
head of Mossad in London, in response to Israeli arrogance and theft
of British passports, for use in the Dubai murder of Palestinian
Freedom Fighter Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

"I think the British are behaving hypocritically and I don't want to
offend dogs on this issue, since some dogs are utterly loyal," Aryeh
Eldad said, "Who are they to judge us on the war on terror?"

He added that Israel's "natural reaction should be to expel one of the
senior diplomats in the British Embassy, maybe the military attache or
someone on his level."

Eldad's political colleague from the same party, Michael Ben-Ari,
responded to the comment, saying, "The British may be dogs, but they
are not loyal to us, but rather to an anti-Semitic system, and Israeli
diplomacy partially plays into their hands. This is anti-Semitism
disguised as anti-Zionism".

One of Israel's leading newspapers complained, that the British
government’s lost moral compass, also explains its dire voting record
on the Goldstone Report which found Israel guilty of War Crimes
against the Palestinians. It further complained of Britain's abiding
failure to stop the use of its legal system for the purpose of
arresting Israeli politicians and military officers for War Crimes,
should they dare to set foot on British soil ever again. It further
complains of delays by Britain in following Israeli instructions to
amendits legal system back in December, after a London court issued a
warrant for the arrest of leader Tzipi Livni. The Livni affair was
preceded by the attempted arrest in 2005 of General Doron Almog,
former commander of Israeli forces in Gaza, and by the cancellation of
a trip to Britain by former Israeli chief of General Staff, Moshe
Ya’alon. The newspaper says the British move against Israel, was
coordinated with other countries, Germany, France, Ireland and
possibly Australia and may be the start of more similar action in the
future.

The Israeli's accept that it is a blow to their own arrogance at all
levels. Israel broke a promise given by Shimon Peres to Geoffrey Howe
in 1987, that British passports would not be used again for Israeli
intelligence operations or murders. William Hague, the foreign
secretary of the conservatives' shadow government who may replace
Miliband shortly, is the one who reminded parliament about the broken
Israeli promise to Britain.

The breach of trust alongside the normally close intimate,
intelligence cooperation, between Israel and Britain fanned British
anger at Israel, for the theft of British passports for a murder
committed in Dubai. Israel in so doing incriminated and exposed
Britain as its silent compliant partner in a lot of its activities,
dating back to the foundation of the state of Israel by Britain before
it was forced to withdraw.

The Israeli newspaper added that a British agent using an Israeli
passport to track down an IRA cell would not meet with much Israeli
sympathy, a subtle reminder of the help Mossad provided the British,
tracking down an IRA cell to Gibraltar, in which Maireid Farrell,
Daniel McCann and Sean Savage, Irish freedom fighters were summarily
murdered by the British, thus preventing further disclosure, after
being tracked there by Mossad. The massive theft of other countries
passports is a colossal breach of sovereignty, as it affects the
relationships and treatment of citizens travelling and working in
those countries, particularly the Middle-East. Dubai will no doubt pay
particular attention to British commoners in the future, as a result
of this particular Israeli activity. Irish people for example have
always been made most welcome in the Middle east, now as a result of
Israeli abuse of their Irish passports, they suddenly become suspect,
naturally all of the countries affected are very angry at perceived
Israeli arrogance and criminality in addition to its recent War Crimes
in Gaza.

The Israeli media claim the affair, offers a glimpse of the British
decision-making process and exposes the failures of Israel in the
murder.The incident shows that the British Secret Intelligence
Service, SIS or MI6, is answerable to the foreign secretary and
coordinates with him or his top deputies, operations that may affect
foreign affairs. MI5 on the other hand they claim answers to the home
secretary like the police. The prime minister has overall
responsibility with his office helping to coordinate intelligence.
That is the theory, the reality is that the politicos nominally answer
to the services and rubber stamp activities. As a result, were an
operation bungled in an MI6 operation, the foreign secretary would
resign or the home secretary, if there were a problem at MI5.

The government of Israel is hesitant to push Agent Dagan to resign, as
it would seem like an admission of  Mossad's involvement in Mabhouh's
murder. The Israeli minister in charge of intelligence affairs, Dan
Meridor, is not held in high esteem in Israel. The  opposition party
in Government however, is former Mossad agent Tzipi Livni, now the
head of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Overall
responsibility lies with Netanyahu, who obviously did not check things
properly, nor weigh the risks and rewards, and eroded Israel's
diplomatic poor standing around the world even further, as result of
Israel's criminal activity in the theft of several western countries
passports and subsequent murder in Dubai, which was filmed in detail
from the outset.

Mossad offices in London, which normally works openly with British
agents in occupied Ireland for example, has been dealt a body blow to
its mission there, with the unwanted publicity and the head of the
mission expelled. Israeli media say Mossad control at Ben-Gurion
International Airport is infamous and the stigma of this bungled
covert operation, will have a ripple effect. Mossad head to be
expelled Dagan's predecessor, Ephraim Halevy, was actually born in
London.


The person who will be ultimately held responsible for this failure,
appears already to be the Israeli prime minister. The Israeli media
complain however, that Netanyahu never took responsibility and will
not likely do so now, neither is he facing an upcoming election like
Britain, where a perception of being friendlier to Israel, than
British intellectuals and journalists wish to see, post Gaza War
Crimes, as manifested with academic boycotts of Israel and planned
arrests of senior Israeli officials entering Britain. Should the
British government fail to respond to Mossad's criminal activity, it
could expect attacks in parliament and a backlash at the polls.The
Israeli's believe that it is the current British domestic political
environment, that has effected the move. It remains to be seen how
other European countries, Australia and Ireland react, to their
citizens considerable anger, at this Israeli behaviour post UN
International War Crimes guilty verdict against Israel.

UNITED NATIONS LEADER; GAZA CONDITIONS 'UNACCEPTABLE'

IRISH ANGER AT ISRAELI LEADER'S FAMILY CALLING AMERICAN PRESIDENT ANTI-SEMITIC

Irish-Americans attending the St Patrick's Day parades yesterday were
extremely angry at Israeli Prime minister, Mr Netanyahu's
brother-in-law, who yesterday called American President Obama,
'anti-Semitic. The Irish themselves have also recently been accused of
being anti-semitic, as a result of their work with the UN in the
occupied Palestinian territories, where recently 1,500 citizens were
murdered by Israeli war planes attacking unprotected civilian areas. A
third of the victims were innocent children. Irish republicans as
result of brutal British occupation, understand the suffering caused
by occupation of invaders and are part of a rising tide of Irish
feelings against Israeli War Crimes.

Mr Ben-Artzi said his brother-in-law Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu should learn from previous Prime Ministers.
Mr Ben-Artzi was responding to US State Department criticism of
Israeli approval to build 1,600 new homes in Palestinian East
Jerusalem. Hillary Clinton stood up to the bullying of the US by
Israel and Mr Obama said the decision had not been helpful to the
peace process.On Sunday, an assistant of Mr Obama called Israel's
announcement "calculated", "destructive" to peace efforts and an
"insult" to the US. The Palestinians had just agreed to hold indirect
"proximity talks" to revive the peace process, which was stalled.

In an interview with Israel Army Radio, Mr Ben-Artzi said his
brother-in-law should learn from previous Israeli prime ministers.
"Once the Americans tried to intervene in anything related to
Jerusalem we told them one simple word: 'No'," he said.
"As a politician running for presidency he had to hide it, but it
comes out every time and I think we just have to say it plainly -
there is an anti-Semitic president in America  Hagai Ben-Artzi."

"Mr Obama, not only disliked Mr Netanyahu personally, but dislikes the
people of Israel. For 20 years, Obama sat with Reverend Jeremiah
Wright, who is anti-Semitic, anti-Israeli, and anti-Jewish. It was
clear Mr Obama agreed with Rev Wright because he had remained a member
of his congregation.Think about it. If you had heard of someone who
for 20 years sat in church and heard anti-Semitic sermons and didn't
get up to leave after two weeks, wouldn't you think he identifies with
it?" he asked.


"As a politician running for the presidency, he had to hide it, but it
comes out every time and I think we just have to say it plainly, there
is an anti-Semitic President in America. Unfortunately this creates a
difficult situation for Israel, but we will never give up our deepest
interests, Jerusalem and our ties with it."


The Palestinian Authority refused to resume direct talks with Israel,
because of Israel's refusal, to stop the expansion of settlements in
the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Israel had announced previously a
10-month suspension of new building in the West Bank, under heavy US
pressure from Hillary Clinton. It now considers the Palestinian east
Jerusalem municipality, as its territory and thus not subject to
restricting Israeli expansion there.

Half a million Jews live in more than 100 settlements built after
Israel's 1967 war and occupation of the Palestinian West Bank and East
Jerusalem. They are illegal under international law and with the UN.
Israel disputes the right of the UN or International Law and the UN's
Goldstone report which has found Israel guilty of war crimes against
the Palestinians. International observers are confused because these
laws were initially set up to protect Jews who themselves like the
Palestinians now, suffer as a result of War Crimes.

Irish peace keepers working for the UN who were part of the
investigation that found Israel guilty of War Crimes, are also accused
of being"Anti-Semitic" and the Irish Foreign minister was refused
permission to see for himself the results of Israel's war crimes.
Irish people are also angry at the theft of their passports, in the
recent assassination of a Palestinian Freedom Fighter in Dubai, which
affects the warm welcome Irish travelers always received in the
Middle-East.




It is childish to assume that Jeremiah Wright was referring to Israel as a "dirty word."  In the only tape I have found above, that could possibly be construed as anti-semitic. It does not mean that he's insulting Israel. The context in this age of soundbite, is something the political pundits with an agenda, seem to care little about. The speech makes it clear, that mentioning Israel is a loaded issue. It even seems that Wright may be supporting Palestinians in the conflict. But that does NOT make him anti-semite, no more than Barrack Obama or the Irish people are anti-semite. 

CLINTON COURAGE AT ISRAELI BULLYING CELEBRATED IN IRELAND

Irish people were last night celebrating Hillary Clinton's sharp
criticism of Israel. Ireland and Israel have been for some recent time
engaged in a diplomatic war of words on Israel's war crimes
against Gaza and subsequent outrageous statements by Israel, against
Irish UN personnel, blocking the Irish Foreign minister entering Gaza,
blocking Irish humanitarian aid for Gaza, attacking Irish personnel
working for the UN and stealing Irish passports to assassinate a
Palestinian freedom fighter in Dubai.


US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has shown once again,
considerably more courage than any of her male colleagues in the
American administration, by standing up to Israel on several occasions
who have been dictating US policy in the middle-east for several
decades now. She has sharply rebuked Israel, over its recent decision
to build new settlements in East Jerusalem.


She told Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, that the move was "deeply
negative" for US-Israeli relations. It was a rare and sharp rebuke
from Washington. Israel's aggressive expansion announcement came at
the start of a visit by US Vice-President Joe Biden to restart peace
talks. To many neutral observers like the Irish, it was a move by
Israel, calculated and guaranteed to prevent peace talks, as the Israel has clearly
demonstrated for some time, it is not interested in Middle-east peace.

Since the announcement the Palestinians who had already made several
concessions, to enable peace talks, have now indicated they will not
return to the negotiating table, unless the Israeli decision to expand
into Palestinian East Jerusalem is revoked. Israeli policy of eternal war guarantees it believes unending financial support from the US.
Hillary Clinton delivered her rebuke during a 43-minute telephone
conversation with Mr Netanyahu, the US state department said. US state
department spokesperson PJ Crowley said, Mrs Clinton spoke "to make
clear that the United States considered the announcement to be a
deeply negative signal about Israel's approach to the bilateral
relationship and contrary to the spirit of the vice-president's trip".

Hillary Clinton has again called on Israel to show some commitment to
the peace process
"The secretary said she could not understand how this happened,
particularly in light of the United States's strong commitment to
Israel's security," he added.
"She made clear that the Israeli government needed to demonstrate not
just through words but through specific actions that they are
committed to this relationship and to the peace process."


The Quartet for Middle East peace mediators, the US, Russia, the EU
and UN, have also condemned the Israeli housing expansion announcement
and said it will review the situation at a ministerial meeting on the
19th March in Moscow.

Mr Netanyahu who earlier apologised for the timing of the settlement
announcement, which was made just as Mr Biden was holding a day of talks in
Jerusalem. He said he had summoned Interior Minister Eli Yishai to
reprimand him. Israeli and Palestinian leaders had just agreed to hold
indirect, "proximity talks" in an effort to restart talks on peace,
when Israel's announcement deliberately sabotaged peace once again.
After the announcement, the Palestinian Authority said talks would be
"very difficult" if plans for Jerusalem expansion were not rescinded.

Close to half a million Jews live in over a 100 settlements built in
occupied lands, since Israel's 1967 occupation of the West Bank and
East Jerusalem. They are illegal under international law, which Israel
ignores. Until Clinton's appointment, the US has supported
Israel unconditionally, with weapons and huge financial US taxpayer's
aid. It is believed by most seasoned international observers, that
Israel ordered the US and Britain into the Iraq invasion and has also
given orders to the US to invade Iran in the coming months.

Prior to Hillary Clinton's appointment as US secretary of state, most
objective Irish observers have referred to this anomaly, as the
Israeli tail wagging the US dog. Clinton is starting to demonstrate
the type of courage, that several Irish female activists who have been
murdered as result of Israel's activities, themselves demonstrated.

Maireid Farrell who was tracked for a considerable time by Israeli secret
agents to Gibratar, was murdered along with two colleagues some years
ago. Rachel Corry a young Irish American peace activist, protesting
the Israeli destruction of Palestinian homes, was murdered by the
Israeli's, who heartlessly drove their bulldozers over young body.
Clinton is starting to demonstrate the same courage, in standing up to
the bullying of the Israelis, that has been clearly absent with her
male colleagues in the American administration for decades now, who are
afraid of the Zionist lobby which originated in Britain and has
dictated both countries foreign policy, even in Ireland, with a
shoot-to-kill policy adopted by MI-5 who are now in charge of policing
in John Bull's other island.

People in occupied Ireland empathize with the injustices of the long
suffering, occupied, Palestinians, because they have also experienced
brutal invasion and rape of their territory. Irish people have
observed in horror for decades now, Israel's flagrant disregard for
international law or the UN and are sickened watching daily in the
media, for more than fifty years now, Israeli war crimes, that they
themselves suffered with Hitler. Women and children are the most
vulnerable and bear the brunt of the suffering inflicted by the
invader's war crimes.

Clinton in a rare glimpse of hope and courage, from another American
administration, otherwise demonstrating the familiar characteristics
of impotent eunuchs, who have traditionally performed a wide variety
of functions in many traditional cultures, such as: courtiers or
equivalent domestics, treble singers, religious specialists,
government officials, military commanders, and guardians of women or
harem servants, dating back the Sumerian city of Lagash, in the twenty
first century BC, the earliest known civilization in the world,which
is known as the Cradle of Civilization by Irish ancestors.

Irish Foreign Minister Accuses Israel in Gaza

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin, has visited Gaza despite being blocked entry by Israel. Mr Martin entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing on its border with Egypt. Earlier Mr Martin said, “Industrial estates were levelled, civilians were killed, women and children were killed [in the Gaza offensive],”


Mr Martin said. “In my view there was no justification for that level and scale of violence, and the continuing blockade is not acceptable either.“All of that in my view just nurtures the fundamentalists and extremists and actually undermines the voice of moderation.”But the Minister stressed Ireland’s position did not pose a threat to any country in the region. “We’ve taken a position on the Middle Eastern peace process which we believe is a fair one, and an honest assessment and objective,”



Mr Martin said. “We’re not anti-Israel. We have very a clear position in terms of how the peace process should be advanced.”Mr Martin is the first EU foreign minister to gain access to Gaza since Sweden foreign minister Carl Bildt visited last February. British, French, Turkish and Belgium have all been excluded from entering in recent months.Mr Martin met Irishman John Ging, head of the United Nations operation in the Gaza strip.



The Minister visited a UN food distribution centre, met with businessmen to discuss the impact of the Israeli blockade and held talks with Palestinian human rights activists.Almost 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis were killed in the 22-day Gaza Bombing, 20,000 people remain homeless as a with 70 per cent of the 1.5 million-strong population classed as refugees.Micheál Martin later in the day pleaded with Israel to end the blockade of Gaza and vowed Ireland would continue to speak out on the issue During his historic first trip to the occupied territory, Mr Martin said the blockade was affecting ordinary people and helping swell the ranks of the Islamic Hamas administration. His claim was backed by Gaza business chiefs who claimed it was breeding another generation of hostility and hatred.




Mr Martin further said, “I would appeal to the Israeli Government and all concerned to lift this blockade,” Mr Martin said. “When you see it first hand you see how it’s choking the life out of ordinary Palestinians and how it’s creating a very bleak presence for them, not to mind the future.”Mr Martin said. “The hundreds of thousands of people who are now in poverty, who have to queue up with their ration cards for food everyday at the food distribution centre; the impact of the blockade can clearly be seen,” he said.




While acknowledging Ireland as a small country but stressed that as a member of the EU its voice counted and pledged to continue to speak out. “That’s a fundamental political thing we can do as a country and we will continue to do that.”Irishman John Ging, UNRWA head, praised Mr Martin for having the “political courage” to visit the territory, but he said aid money pledged by international donors was not getting through. “It’s massively frustrating for everybody here when they know that 4.5 billion dollars were pledged.“That’s 4.5 billion dollars to relieve 4.5 billion dollars’ of misery and not one dollar has actually come to Gaza for recovery and reconstruction,” he said.




Mr Martin voiced concern that materials for reconstructing homes and repairing schools damaged during the Israeli offensive were not allowed into the region. “There is crying need for this situation to end, to allow proper living standards return in terms of food supplies and the rebuilding of homes,” he said.




The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) welcomed Mr Martin’s visit, saying the EU needed to be more “vocal and active” in its opposition to what Israel was doing. Chairperson Dr David Landy said: “The people of Gaza are suffering terribly as a result of the ongoing Israeli blockade and the infrastructure remains in tatters since the massive Israeli military assault last year.”

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that five Irish passports were used by suspects in the killing of a Hamas official in Dubai.

The Israeli ambassador to Ireland has said he had no knowledge of the use of Irish passports seized in Dubai.

Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was murdered while staying in a hotel in the UAE by a group of assassins travelling on Irish and British passports.

The chief of police in Dubai said he is 99% sure that Israel was responsible for last month's assassination of a leading Hamas official.

Police chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim told The National newspaper that their 'investigations reveal that Mossad is involved in the murder of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin said that the incident was very serious and had put the security of Irish citizens at risk.Mr Martin said he did not know whether the Israeli secret service, Mossad, had been involved, but he had serious concerns about the issue.

Passports in the names of six British commoners and five Irish citizenss were among identity papers revealed by Dubai police who were hunting the hit squad, which killed Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

Former British Liberal Democrat leader Menzies Campbell said Israeli involvement would be 'a serious violation of trust between nations'.

He added: 'Given the current speculation, the Israeli government has some explaining to do and the ambassador should be summoned to the Foreign Office to do so in double-quick time.'

The latest latest violation of Irish sovereignty comes just after an attack by Israel An Israeli on an Irish army colonel, Des Travers, from the UN team that investigated the Israeli war on Gaza. The Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs (JCPA), led by Israel’s former ambassador to the U N, Dore Gold, classified Col Travers as “an individual who is not qualified to take part in any serious fact-finding mission” and demanded the UN not to use his services in future.

A month previous to that the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs was refused permission to visit Gaza in occupied Palestine to see for himself conditions on the ground. Under International law, Israel has no right whatsoever to deny any Irish minister a visit to Palestine to see first-hand the humanitarian crisis that has been created by their war crimes.

Aengus Ó Snodaigh a member of Leinster House Parliament in Ireland, said recently said it is high time that a hard line is taken on the issue. He declared Israel a “rogue, racist and belligerent state”. He said that no Irish minister “with a scintilla of backbone” should allow matters to rest here.

“I am calling on Minister Mícheál Martin to take a stand. It is high time that a hard line is taken on the issue of Israel, to stand out among European and world leaders and to stand up for the people of Palestine".

“He must demand access and make every effort to get to Gaza and Palestine despite what the Israeli authorities say. If the Israeli authorities refuse access again, diplomatic relations should immediately be broken off and the Israeli ambassador sent home.

“He has to make Israel understand that there are consequences for their actions. He must push for immediate action at European level. A start could be made by demanding an end to the special trade relationship that exists between the European Union and Israel.

“Meekly walking away from a major diplomatic insult without a response is tantamount to conniving and colluding in the abuse of the Palestinian people. It cannot and must not be allowed to happen.”

This latest scandal now endangers the lives of all Irish passport holders, who would formerly would not have been regarded, as enemies of Palestinian freedom.

Boycott Ireland

The word boycott originated in Ireland during the  "Land War" from the name of Charles Boycott, the  agent of Britiish absentee landlord,  Earl Erne, who was subject to social ostracism organized by Michael Davitt's Irish Land League in 1880. Protesting tenants demanded from Boycott a  reduction in rents. He refused and also evicted them from the land.

 Despite the short-term economic hardship to those undertaking this action, Boycott found himself isolated, his workers in one of the few instances of organized Irish unity, stopped work. Local Irish business in solidarity stopped trading with him.

The organized united action meant that Boycott was unable to hire anyone to harvest the crops in his charge. Eventually 50 bigoted Orange barstewards from Cavan and Monaghan volunteered to harvest his crops. They were escorted from Claremorris by a thousand British police and soldiers. This protection ended up costing far more than the harvest was worth. After the harvest, the "boycott" was successfully continued.

An honourable brave Jew states the following: Israel should have known from the beginning that when you ethnically cleanse a people from their lands that they will never live in peace. I say this as a Jew whose family member back in early 1948 participated in the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. This same family member, then a major in the IDF told me that if Israel goes they will take the world with them. That includes you and your family, so you had better press for a end to occupation and an end to settlements because one day Israel will go and I sure as hell don't want to give my life for them.

Israelis Accuse Irish Investigator in Gaza of Anti-Semitism

An Israeli think tank, has attacked a retired Irish army colonel by the name of Des Travers, from the UN team that investigated the Israeli war on Gaza. The Israeli group accuse him of anti-Semitic prejudice.

The Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs (JCPA), led by Israel’s former ambassador to the U N, Dore Gold, classified Col Travers as “an individual who is not qualified to take part in any serious fact-finding mission” and demanded the UN not to use his services in future.

Desmond Travers was one of four members of a panel led by Richard Goldstone, who was commissioned by the UN to investigate Israeli military operations in Gaza. Col Travers replied that the accusation of anti-Semitism was “derisory and nonsense”. He said that the JCPA accusations “are not new and fall into the sort of category of misrepresentation that they in turn have accused me of”.

Israel refused to co-operate with the UN inquiry, although a number of Israeli human rights groups provided considerable information. After visiting Gaza, questioning many witnesses the team produced a report accusing both Israel and Palestinian militant groups of committing war crimes.The Israeli think tank accuses Col Travers of fundamental anti-Israel bias and quoted him accusing Israeli troops of shooting Palestinian children in front of their parents, and in Lebanon deliberately shooting at members of the Irish peacekeeping force.

The most serious JCPA accusation concerns comments allegedly made by Col Travers in a recent interview where he implied that British foreign policy interests in the Middle East, seemed to be strongly influenced by Jewish lobbyists. According to the JCPA, this statement, “places Travers in a position in which his views are suspect of being motivated by anti-Semitic prejudices”

The attack comes just over a month after the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs was refused permission to visit Gaza in occupied Palestine to see for himself conditions on the ground. The Israeli government has been sharply criticised in the Irish parliament for refusing Foreign Affairs Minister Micheal Martin permission to visit Gaza.

Some members called the refusal “intolerable” and “an insult”, while the chair of the parliament’s committee on European affairs, Bernard Durkan, claimed the decision “serves to give the impression that Israel is unwilling to let the outside world see the suffering that is going on”.

Mr Martin, tipped by many to be the next Irish taoiseach (prime minister), told the committee he had been given “no substantial reason” for the refusal, though he acknowledged similar requests from other European countries had been turned down.

The request had been made last month, he said, and his department had been advised by the Israeli government last week that “access was not possible”. He added: “I just wanted to go in myself and see Gaza.”

A spokesman for the Israeli embassy in Dublin said the minister had not been singled out, and that he was “always welcome” to visit Israel.

According to the Irish Times, an Israeli Defence Ministry spokesman, Shlomo Dror, said: “We are not allowing politicians to visit Gaza at the moment,” he said. “We are not going to assist anyone in meeting members of the terrorist organisation ruling Gaza today.”

Mr Durkan, a prominent member of the main Irish opposition party, Fine Gael, led the criticism of the Israeli decision. “That an Irish foreign minister is not permitted to visit a region to assess a humanitarian situation is almost without precedent,” he said. “It is totally intolerable and tantamount to censorship.”

Similar criticisms were voiced by another Fine Gael member, Billy Timmins, the party’s foreign affairs spokesman, and by the Labour Party’s Joe Costello.

Speaking to the committee, Mr Martin described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “completely unacceptable”.

He warned that if steps were not made soon to ease the situation, “then the international community as a whole may need to reconsider what further pressure it can bring in favour of achieving a negotiated, two-state settlement”.

He urged Israel to provide “further clear evidence” that it was serious about peace negotiations, “and not, instead, be preoccupied with simply managing what I fear could well escalate into a situation of incipient conflict”.
